About the event
“The present and the future: enhancing openBIM workflows”
The next buildingSMART International Summit will take place in Marrakesh, Morocco, from 1st – 3rd October, 2024. This will be the first summit in Africa, connecting global professionals with experts in Morocco and neighbouring countries – a unique event that is the only one of its kind dedicated to openBIM! Join the buildingSMART community and discover how standards and services such as IFC 4.3, IDS, Validation Service, and bSDD are making a real difference to how the built environment can thrive.
With the formal approval and publishing of standards and services in 2024, such as IFC 4.3 and IDS, the industry has evolved, providing access to a wealth of openBIM workflows. These advancements bring tangible benefits to end users, fostering clarity, confidence, and consistency. They also demonstrate how openBIM is instrumental in achieving sustainability goals and enhancing productivity in the sector. This summit is a prime opportunity to delve into the practical applications of the latest standards and services, reaffirming the importance of openBIM.
In another first, the buildingSMART International Summit will be organized and take place in conjunction with CIB W78 – a long standing commission of CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction) with a focus on IT in Construction. CIB W78 draws the top researchers internationally to focus on IT innovations and challenges for industry and draws a vibrant, strong academic community which encourages graduate students to join in and ensure their impact in the field.
All buildingSMART and CIB W78 sessions will be open to all in person attendees, providing an unparalleled opportunity to share best practice and innovation in the built environment. The event will conclude with a celebratory dinner, host to the openBIM Awards Ceremony and CIB W78’s presentation of the Charles M. Eastman Top PhD Paper Award.
