PROPERTY TYPE IN ARCHICAD

This part contains the principle of property operation in a general way by software. We differentiate for example in the software a native built-in property with or without predefined mapping to IFC, a custom property (without default mapping), we also differentiate the IFC properties / attributes that are not managed by text information but directly by the geometry (type of operation for a window in Revit, Qto properties…). These descriptions are associated with each property of each object, which will allow you to know in which case you are in from a property selected in an object.

Built-in property:

Built-in properties are properties that exist by default in the software and are visible. Their name cannot be changed and usually the mapping to IFC is already preconfigured but not for all objects and cannot be changed (-> Archicad 25). Examples are “ID”, “Structural function”, “Position” and “Renovation status”.

Property embedded in geometry:

For some properties, they do not appear as a “property” but it is the geometry that will generate the property in the IFC export. Examples are Qto (quantities standardized in IFC), the type of opening of a window… There is therefore no action to perform to manage the mapping (except for Qto for which an option must be activated in the export)

Customized property:

This is any property that does not exist by default in Archicad. Therefore, the property must be created and mapped to the corresponding property in the IFC schema, including the folder that should contain this property (Pset). These properties can be found in the menu Option > Property Manager
