Een audio-video apparaat heeft als belangrijkste functie gegevensbestanden of geluid uit te wisselen. Het heeft gewoonlijk een elektriciteitsvoorziening nodig en kan vast of verplaatsbaar zijn. Niet inbegrepen zijn apparaten die voornamelijk voor audio- en/of videodoeleinden bedoeld zijn.
